Nick of Time..more Lovemongering...

Holy moley...how does this happen?

Seems like every time I turn around, another Thursday has rolled around, and I'm having to skid in my regular Lovemongering sessions under the gun....which I really dislike. Because, TRUST ME, there's always some sort of suggestion I have for how to help people. There is alot of ache and need out there, folks. Really, the more I look around, or the more people bring me suggestions for Lovemonger Thursdays, the more I realize, I'm really lucky.

Yes, my sad, no-regular-job-having, barely-there-medical-benefits, don't-know-how-I-get-the-rent-paid self, I am lucky. I don't have a child with a horrible illness. I haven't lived, first-hand, through a war, or seen my family slaughtered in one. I am not freezing on the street, I'm not an animal that's being beaten or starved, or a child being beaten and starved.

I'm just short on money. Ok, MORE short than I'd like, but I still have the capacity to try to change my circumstances...that's more than enough. You KNOW it's a big deal when I stop my usual shenanigans, once each week, and give you the true run down (but don't tell the rest of the world, it'll ruin my street cred!).....

Anyway, there are several interesting entries I've been made aware of. In the spirit of this interesting new time in America, and it's call to action, I'm giving you MORE THAN one offering.

The first, still in tune with the Obama theme...is the clever YES WE CANDLES. This business is run by two gentleman that clearly ran with the "Yes We Can" theme. One young man, one older man, created candles. What's the big idea, you ask? The proceeds from the candles go to help each man's MOTHER...both of their mother's have dire illnesses (I recall the younger man's mother has cancer) and the money helps pay hospital bills. I've seen the site, it seems to have many well-known backers, at this point...but it's up to you to see if you'd like to help: www.yeswecandles.com

The second offering I have today continues my never ending aim at helping animal suffering. I was alerted to this wonderful video, which comes from the Tenessee Elephant Sanctuary. Yes, people, there is an elephant sanctuary in America. Where the heck to they get the packederms? From abusive conditions in circuses and zoos. They are, as far as I know, the only elephant sanctuary in America, so help them continue there great work--it can't be CHEAP to feed these huge beauties, so help this non-profit out. Donate, or find out more at: www.elephants.com

And don't forget to check out this heartwarming vid. I dare you not to choke up, just a little (but we'll keep that between us, I promise!)

The last was a completely random entry I found while "blog-surfing" a couple of nights ago. Apparently, there are quite a few blogs by some very sweet parents, about their sickly babies. Actually, I WAS quite surprised to find that there are A LOT of these sort of blogs, I guess I'm a bit overwhelmed because it's sad to realize so many little children have problems. Anyway, this blog got to me. I don't know that there is anything to do but what they parents ask: pray for this wee sprite. Or, maybe contact the parents and send gifts? A card? Something to maybe let them know they aren't alone? If you are interested in helping, please go to: www.jennasjourneyblog.blogspot.com

Thank you, and many blessings!!
