Whatdya Mean I'm not a farm-girl?

So in a casual discussion yesterday, my friend's boyfriend (whom we shall keep anonymous, to protect his reputation of being a pain in the booh-teh) mentioned that I had some nerve to be writing a whole blog about farm-life.

Ok, to be fair, he DOES have a point. My "livestock" barely weighs a pound and my tiny city plot is about as far as acreage as one gets. Nope, I ain't farmer Brown.

But, I've never SAID that. This blog, from the get-go, was about trying to get city folks to add more farming life into their lives. It's also for those of us living "in the meantime." I mean, what if you can't GET OUT to the country life? What if living in a place with open space and some grass isn't possible?

What if you want farm fresh eggs? What if you want to do all the stuff that your Gramma used to do, even if you won't admit it to your ultra slick, museum going, high end shopping friends?

So, that's this blog's job...to make you feel a little less dorky about thinking about those things, and maybe to give you a push to do those things. I mean, if you look at the way the things are going, WE ALL will have to find a way to garden and farm--even a little---to get our own food sources...and then some.

And anyway, who says I'm not all about the farming? Why, my house has all sorts of farming clues all over it!

Here are the heirloom family plates:

Ok, they MIGHT not be your typical family plates.....

But here is my farmy kitchen:

Alright, the cookbook rack MIGHT hold a Halloweeny book and some whimsically magical spoons....

But then what about my primitive fall wall-hanging?

Disregard the creepy owl lamp behind it! I must've forgotten to put it away after Halloween..yeah, that's it...

Alright...I know you're not convinced. So then, what about my favorite tea pot and some old fashioned bear sugar shakers?
Yes? You mean these ARE farmy...at least somewhat??

I TOLD You so...I have farm-y stuff around the house! Which is proof positive that I am now qualified to run a tractor and tackle a bull...

Uhh, yeah. Let's just stick to fire escape gardening and learning to knit...

For now. Mwhahahaaaa
