Late Lovemonger Post!

So, if you've been keeping up with my funny little adventures here, you'll know that every Thursday I do a series of Lovemonger posts, in which I highlight a person or group that could use our help--I round-about "acts of kindness," which reinforces kindness from all of us. Obviously, these are not the best of times, and I'm a firm believer that its up to us to help each other...you get the picture, right?

Well, I've sort of strayed for the past few weeks---Life is sneaky like that, convincing you that you are too busy...so, I've managed to be tardy with my Thursday postings. But you'll take a Friday posting, right?

So this Friday, I thought I'd combine a little of my art life with my farm life (and I use "farm life" loosely, obviously!) when I mention a couple of fun projects you can participate in to help a farmy freind.

I've mentioned Apifera Farm here more often than once. Artist Katherine Dunn lives on a farm in Oregon and combines the trials, joys, and travails of farm life seamlessly into her whimsical, sensitive art and writing. To say I am highly impressed with her is and understatement--it's like saying I SORT OF like Cheescake....and that when left alone with said cheescake, I will only eat a sliver of a slice, highly conscientous of the proper propertions for a proper diet....uhh...yeah...right...

ANYHOO.

Katherine makes much of her living off of her art and dreams, but she also takes that lovely spirit to give back to the community. Annually, she hosts Pino's Pie Day--which started with taking a pie to a stranger at a nearby farm, accompanied by one of her beloved donkeys--yes, it sounds strange, but trust me, it's charming---and if you don't believe me..read about it here. You can also read MUCH more, and see pictures of LAST year's lovely affairs by CLICKING HERE.

And whilst you are there, you might see she needs our help making this year's Pie Day spectacular. And this is where the fun comes in. She needs aprons sent to her, and also 8 x 8" cloth squares for people to write lovely "letters" to hospice workers (she will be honoring them for Pie Day). You may send any sort of cloth, but preferably blank...or bordered by a lovely design with room for a message to be written (again, please see above link for examples)--

I say--why not embroider a lovely border, or paint or sew a crafty border and send some lovely squares. Or paint or create a handmade apron? And yes, feel free to send any store made items as well--but the point being, there seem to be so many fun and creative ways that probably aren't too costly, and you'll be adding to the smiles all around.

I will probably be sending some handpainted little farm squares and try some hand quilted aprons.....the address and other information is on her blog site as well, and it makes for an interesting read, as well :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Zan,
This is such a wonderful cause. Thank you for sharing it with us. I will be creating some hand painted squares to send. Thankfully I have not needed a hospice care giver, but the mother of one of my friends did and they were wonderful.
