....is sort of the story of my life. I feel like I am constantly on the losing side of a race to catch up to myself...I never seem to be able to find the time any more to finish anything, though I will say it's NEVER a dull moment around here! The reason? Projects!
Aren't projects fun? The whole story of my life is "One Big Crazy Project," which is really, a whole slew of projects--some are "for entertainment purposes only" and others are those crazy things you try to think of to make money--when you are a freelancer and artist, such as myself. Of course, these are the very thing that keep a person, such as myself, from *ahem* keeping up with my posts on here (DOH!).....
I mean--here is what's going on at the moment:
*Massive sewing and painting of dolls and other goodies to put on Etsy...
*Running all over the city because of a new slew of pre-summer and summer pet-care gigs have come my way...
*Job hunting for the bigger, better, hopefully more stable job--which includes never-ending online resume sending (and praying!)
* Writing for (at last count) AT LEAST THREE blogs(!)
* Rehearsing for the random paying dance gig
* There's a Sea Swap going on over at my other blog
* The never ending saga of getting bees for our little bee-keeping excursion (currently, still NO bees! But TONS of bee equipment!)
* I have this farmy magazine that I need to get finished every two months (an update on that, momentarily)
* Oh yeah--cleaning the house (ha! That is currently a "wish list project"!)
* Learning to play my new violin (double ha!)
Hmmm...I think that covers it--well, excluding "finding time for sleep," but you get the idea.
ANYHOO....
As you can see, there is a whole lotta project-doing going on. And if that weren't enough--over the course of a few weeks, I added ANOTHER project..but this time, it seems as though this would be the project to end ALL projects...
This story started when a friend of mine, who knows I plant my own container garden every year in the little space that we loosely call a "backyard" here (I swear, inmates probably get bigger cells in prisons!)...and she wanted me to help her with a rooftop garden, since she had absolutely no experience doing it. Before I knew it, her friends had come to help--mostly out of generosity, but partly because they, too, had no experience and were curious as to how to "grow their own food"; much of this city, it seems, is slowly coming back to its own "farming" roots, as the cost of food rockets upward.
ANYHOO...
We all converged in Brooklyn and began--and by the time we were done, pots lined up neatly with tomato and pepper seedlings, and the beginnings of beans...
but something else happened that day--
EVERYONE kept saying I should teach this stuff. Hmmm....
Almost coincidentally, when getting the BigTownFarmer mag together, I noticed that several of my writers seemed to be lamenting their difficulties with the state of the economy as it is; here were smart, hard working people, having a hard time making ends meet...which is pretty much the same boat I am in...hmmm....
It didn't take me long to correlate: City people with money and thirst for knowledge about sustainable practices....country people with sustainable knowledge and the need to make a living---
WHY NOT connect these two groups! It was bound to happen--and I would need to organize it (luckily, I'm an organizational fiend!)...so what did I end up doing? I'll let you know in my next post!
Or--you can read it in the NEW iSSUE OF BigTownFarmer, which is online now! HERE IS THE ARTICLE!
And I'll explain more tomorrow!

I can't wait to read it!
Don't you know that all creative people always have their fingers in too many pies. Usually, it all seems to work out. you love being busy or you wouldn't do it.
I love it! I love the article too! Yes! to RADICAL CHANGE! you are so cool!
Wow guys! Thank you!
DellaRae you are soo right, I like being busy, just wish I might get paid for some of this "busy-ness"--but then again, I am sure we all would!
Dani!! Wow, it's been awhile girlie!! I must head on over to your blog!! :D
You should just have a newborn..and then you'll at least have some downtime to do all that stuff! Ha! I have given up my project list (to include bathing, knitting, cleaning the house, laundry, etc...) until a time that Violet allows me to pick it up again!
Fabulous article Zan ! You have such a great brain !
Now deep breath........ and take a moment to step away from all the projects and clear your head . I very much relate to a "girl with many projects" life, I live there too.
Can't wait to see how this project develops.
Jonni--haha, ok, you make me look like a rank amateur, I know! :)
Tracey--I know--I need to clone myself! :)
